The British Columbia Permanent Residence Program enables the province to nominate people for permanent residency in Canada. There are several streams in the program, including Express Entry BC , Entrepreneur Immigration, and Skills Immigration. BC PNP allows the province of British Columbia to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Canada based on their skills, work experience, and ability to contribute to the local economy.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program issues periodic Invitations to Apply throughout the year of 2023 as follows.
BC PNP streams participating in the invitation draws:
- Skills Immigration — Skilled Worker
- Skills Immigration — International Graduate
- Skills Immigration — Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
- Express Entry BC — Skilled Worker
- Express Entry BC — International Graduate
- Entrepreneur Immigration General Category
- Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot
Health Care Professional and International Post-Graduate applicants under the Express Entry and the Skills Immigration streams may apply directly to BC PNP for nomination.
As compared to the first draw of 2024, the first draw in 2023 took place on January 4th, 2023 a total of 211 invitations to apply were sent with the highest score of 105. BC PNP ended the year 2023 by inviting 230 candidates with a minimum score of 90 under Skilled Worker, International Graduate (includes EEBC option), this draw focused on childcare: early childhood educators and assistants, construction, healthcare, and tech.
BC PNP focused more on inviting candidates from Tech, Health care, and Early childhood streams which denotes that it had a labor shortage. We are predicting that this trend will continue in 2024 especially since BC issued invitations to childcare and healthcare candidates.
Key Features of BC PNP Draw
- Point-Based System: The BC PNP evaluates applicants using a point system. Points are given for a variety of criteria, including adaptability, age, education, job experience, and language skills. The likelihood of being invited to apply nomination increases with the score.
- Categories and Streams: The BC PNP is organized into a variety of categories and streams that are meant to fulfill the province’s unique requirements. These comprise the Entrepreneur Immigration stream, the Skills Immigration stream, and the Express Entry BC stream. Each stream has its own requirements and guidelines.
- Regular Draws: Candidates who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) are frequently invited to apply for nomination by the BC PNP through drawings. The top-scoring applicants are invited to file a full application for permanent residence after these draws.
- Tech Pilot Program: The Tech Pilot Program, which attempts to meet the province’s increasing need for tech expertise, is an important component of the BC PNP. This program expedites the hiring process for people in the technology sector by giving priority to candidates who have employment offers in critical technology jobs.
