Canada is a popular location for people wishing to start over because of its inclusive and immigrant-friendly policies. One of the most popular immigration pathways is the Express Entry system, which is designed to attract skilled workers from around the globe. Recent Draw

During the week ending May 18, 2024, a total of 2,378 work permit invitations were issued by International Experience Canada Work Permits for the 2024 season, compared to 1,818 invites the previous week. The breakdown of these invitations is as follows:

  • Working Holiday: 2,176 invitations were issued, with 33,350 applications currently in the Working Holiday Pool from 34 different nations. As of May 18, there were 21,093 places available for working holiday visas.
  • Young Professionals: 148 invitations were issued.
  • International Co-op (Internship): 54 invitations were issued.

The IEC 2024 season officially commenced on December 11, 2023, allowing eligible young people from abroad to add their profiles to the IEC pool.

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE CLASS (IEC)?

An essential component of Canada’s Express Entry system, the International Experience Class (IEC) aims to give young people the chance to reside and obtain temporary work permits in Canada. This program is especially popular among youth from countries that have reciprocal agreements with Canada, allowing them to gain practical work experience while experiencing Canadian culture.

The IEC consists of three distinct categories:

  1. Working Holiday: Provides open Canada Work Permits allow participants to work for any employer in Canada.
  2. Young Professionals: Requires a job offer in Canada, providing career-related work experience.
  3. International Co-op (Internship): Targets students from post-secondary institutions in their home country, allowing them to gain work experience related to their field of study.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To participate in the IEC, applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements, which vary depending on their country of origin. Generally, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the 35 countries with a youth mobility agreement with Canada.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35(the age limit can vary by country).
  • Maintain a valid passport throughout their entire visit.
  • Have sufficient funds (equivalent to CAD 2,500) to cover initial expenses.
  • Be admissible to Canada Work Permits.
  • Duration of health insurance covering their entire stay.
  • Not be accompanied by dependents.

There are extra specialized requirements for each IEC category, particularly with regard to job offers and student status.
