The ninth draw of an exceptionally busy month for Express Entry took place today. Over the course of July, the IRCC issued 25,125 ITAs in total.
On 31 July 2024, Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued invitations under the 3rd Express Entry CEC draw for Canadian Class Experience (CEC).
The CEC draw invited 5000 candidates to apply for permanent residency with a minimum CRS score of 510.
What is CEC?
One important immigration category under Canada’s Express Entry CEC draw system is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It is intended for talented people who want to become permanent residents after gaining job experience in Canada. For foreign students and temporary foreign workers who have integrated into Canadian society and have valuable skills that support the nation’s economy, the CEC is a great choice.
How many CEC Invitations have there been this year to date?
Candidates with the highest Express Entry CEC draw scores are invited to apply for permanent residency through regular draws. While the CEC does not guarantee an invitation, it often provides an advantage due to the additional points awarded for Canadian work experience.
In 2024, 14,300 invitations have been issued to CEC candidates. Three of the 29 Express Entry CEC draw lotteries that have taken place in 2024 thus far have exclusively involved CECs.
Date of draw | Draw Type | Number of invitations sent | Minimum score requirement |
July 31, 2024 | Canadian Experience Class | 5,000 | CRS 510 |
July 17, 2024 | Canadian Experience Class | 6,300 | CRS 515 |
May 31, 2024 | Canadian Experience Class | 3,000 | CRS 522 |
TOTAL | 14,300 | – |
What to do after receiving an ITA?
A significant turning point in your immigration path is receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It means that, in light of your credentials and expertise, the Government of Canada is extending an invitation for you to submit an application for permanent residence. However, getting an ITA is only the start of the next important stage.
Getting every document you need to support your application together is one of the most crucial things you can do after getting an ITA.
After you have all the required documentation, register for an Express Entry CEC draw account and finish the online permanent residency application.
Submit your application before the 60-day deadline after checking to make sure all of the information is correct and comprehensive. You should save the application number and the confirmation message you receive after submitting it for your records.
Receiving an ITA under the Canadian Experience Class is a significant achievement, but it also requires careful planning and attention to detail. Remember, this is a critical step toward building a new life in a diverse and welcoming country.

Draws for the month of July
This month, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have been conducting various draws under the Express Entry CEC draw, including program-specific draws and category-based selection draws.
In the category-based draws, a significant number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates demonstrating French language proficiency, with a total of 5,000 ITAs distributed across two draws.
Additionally, on July 5, 3,750 ITAs were issued to candidates with healthcare experience, while another 1,800 ITAs were allocated to those in trade occupations on July 4.
The program-specific draws have also been notable, with a high volume of ITAs issued.
As of July 31, IRCC has invited 11,300 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and 3,275 candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Many of these candidates are already residing and working in Canada as temporary residents. The reintroduction of program-specific draws on May 30, after a year-long hiatus, aligns with IRCC’s strategic goal of focusing on domestic candidates.
This approach is part of a broader initiative introduced in March to reduce and stabilize the number of temporary residents in Canada while still achieving the country’s permanent residency targets as outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan.
Draw Summary for the Year 2024
This year, the following draws have been conducted:
- Nine all-program draws
- Six draws targeted at French speakers
- One draw targeted transport jobs
- One draw targeted agriculture and agri-food occupations
- Two draws targeted at healthcare occupations
- One draw targeted at STEM occupations
- Five PNP draws
- Three CEC draws
- One draw targeted trade occupations
The Canadian Experience Class is a vital component of Canada’s immigration strategy, providing a pathway for skilled workers with Canadian experience to become permanent residents. Its benefits, including a streamlined application process and the absence of a job offer requirement, make it an attractive option for many. As Canada continues to welcome immigrants to support its economic growth and cultural diversity, the CEC remains a popular and accessible route to a new life in Canada this year.
