As expected there was another Express Entry Draw, this time a French category. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made headlines this October by issuing 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a third Express Entry draw in just one week.
This latest draw, held on October 10, 2024, was unique in its focus on candidates with strong French language skills. It’s part of the government’s push to increase Francophone immigration, particularly to provinces and territories outside Quebec.
As a category-based selection draw, it required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 444, emphasizing the competitiveness of the pool of applicants. Candidates with CLB 7 were invited to apply.
This month’s French Category Express Entry score saw a decline of two points as compared to the previous draw – which occurred on September 13, 2024.
This was the third draw within a single week, signaling an exceptional period of activity in Canada’s immigration landscape. Earlier in the week, IRCC held two other draws, one on October 7 and another on October 9, both targeting candidates from specific immigration streams. The October 7 draw invited 1,613 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates, with a minimum CRS score of 743, while the October 9 draw focused on Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, inviting 500 candidates with a CRS score of 539.
The third draw of the month is being held today. 9,173 individuals were invited to the four draws that the IRCC held in October of last year.

What to do after receiving an ITA?
After receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) under the French-speaking category draw of Express Entry, the next step is to submit a complete application for permanent residency within 60 days. Gather all required documents, such as proof of French language proficiency, education credentials, work experience, and medical exams. Ensure your application is accurate and up-to-date, as providing incorrect information could lead to delays or refusal. Pay attention to the specific requirements related to your language skills and keep track of deadlines to avoid missing your opportunity.
When is the Next Draw?
The next Express Entry draw is expected in the fourth week of October 2024, so it’s important to be prepared as IRCC draws can be unpredictable. Keep your Express Entry profile updated, including your language test results, work experience, and other necessary documents. Ensure your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is competitive, as recent draws have shown high cut-off scores. Stay alert for updates, as IRCC’s draws may target specific categories, such as French-speaking candidates or those in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
